Hello, I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the new week! News and Things When I have time to draw it’s either really late at night or during the day when my daughter and son are drawing or are super distracted with a Disney movie. Usually, they see me scribbling away on my iPad and both inevitably float over to watch and ask, with the cutest pleading voices, can I pleeeeease color your drawing?! They both take turns coloring the Scribble Critter happily over and over and over until I pull the plug and say they can do some more next time but mommy needs to finish. The last time this happened my daughter Mary helped me stumble on a slightly new style for my work that I am very pleased with. She absolutely LOVES colors (just like her mama, she makes me so proud!) and she was merrily coloring patches of the brightest hues onto the background of my drawing. When she finished I started painting over the bright colors and something unexpected happened. The way the layers were stacked and the way she colored and I colored over it made a beautiful background with a light cream and some nice bright colors peeking through. It was subtle but bold and I love it. I now use this method on all my weekly Scribble Critters backgrounds. Thank you my Mary for showing me a new, better way to color a background :)
